Science - World Water Community Courses

The World Water Lab is a world-wide connected lab consisting of scientists and labs sharing their expertise, equipment and space from wherever they are around the world with everyone else, contributing to public or private projects, and fundamental or experimental science.This is a first draft of the vision that has been evolving since 2010, and it would be great if you join to bring this project further!Background, reasoning and purposeAfter 10 years in water research and setting up two labs, and having to break them down again due to lack of funding, and after diving into different disciplines, performing different types of measurements (in a lab setting and out in agricultural field), and setting up new experiments and equipment and analyses from scratch, I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way forward in water science is to collaborate worldwide on water research and therefore I propose to set up a “World Water Lab”.I’m aware that there are many of us in the same boat. I have been contacted by various entrepreneurs over the years to either join their team and help set up their lab. They all have a similar vision, i.e. to change the world with their solution by 1) creating a great product, 2) selling their solution, thereby making money, and 3) subsequently spending money on research and/or their own lab. I usually tell them that maintaining and sustaining a lab for years requires a significant amount of money, salaries, patience (results don’t come instantly), equipment, etc. And that it’s better to share those resources. Especially if they want to do fundamental science to figure out ‘how it actually works’.Due to the fact that water is fundamental for all life and relationships on Earth, I believe fundamental science should be a collective effort. All of us benefit from the findings and sharing them can build up common knowledge faster, and this knowledge should be continuously evolving, updated and educated (education is another part of the project).My colleagues and I have also contacted and discussed with very successful global companies in the past that are selling water remedies and not willing to spend money on scientific research, let alone fundamental/theoretical research… It seems usually the young, new, and small companies that have idealistic dreams.And many of us have been contacted to measure water solutions/products and to give a statement about its effectiveness, or provide some kind of quality mark. These results are often used in marketing, but not always with the full explanation of what it actually means for the individual or farmer using the product.The quality mark relates to another aspect that I propose to develop together, this World Water Label most probably will consist of various aspects. For this we also need to join forces to determine what types of measurements can be done that say something about a water, a remedy, a vitalization device, etc. and what can be concluded from each measurement (and whatnot). Starting by making a list of experiments, protocols, potential conclusions, and building from there. Also including a mark for taking into account our global natural system (e.g. creating a World Water Law mark, or some kind of ‘circular whole system respect’ mark), as well as adding a review rating compiled by reviews from community members (product users in our World Water Community marketplace). And… We must continue to be aware and realize that timing, individual interaction with the water, and more (environmental) factors play an important role in its individualized effects… Therefore the development of our personal sensitivity/consciousness related to a potential match (good or bad) to a certain water could be even more important. (Realizing this increased awareness and consciousness for us all is another project, and it is the main reason for including everyone in the World Water Community for the ‘Great Work to Heal Our Waters’, our inner and outer waters, our personal healing towards becoming more of who we can be and more connected to inner wisdom.)Here are some more reasons for collaboration amongst water labs: Water research requires knowledge of many disciplines, as it touches biology, chemistry, physics, weather, Earth science, ecology, agriculture, nourishment, industry, economy, and on the other hand even metaphysics, and more. One person or lab cannot be an expert in all these highly multidisciplinary subjects. Water research is both fundamental as well as experimental, requiring completely different skill sets, e.g. in case you want to test health effects or effects in agriculture next to performing lab tests. Water research requires many different types of experiments, all requiring different equipment and expertise. When you are new to a certain technique mistakes are easily made and reproduced. Setting up a correct protocol and following it accurately requires experience and good equipment, let alone understanding of how to analyze and interpret the data. The cost of equipment and the time it takes to go through a learning curve is significant. These resources (hours, equipment) can best be shared. Collaboration and sharing scientific work enables ‘falsification’, having other scientists reproducing experiments and sharing their results. It’s important that exact protocols are shared, so that experiments can be reproduced and checked and verified to understand fully what is being measured. Statistical evaluation is important to discuss from different angles (mistakes are easily made). It could happen that when a scientist is alone in a lab, or is the only ‘expert’, doing the same experiments for years, the same way, in the same spot, that certain vital aspects are overlooked, and (at least partly) wrong conclusions could easily be made. When sharing projects, hypotheses, and experimental designs, the existing experience amongst scientists can be shared, to not make the same mistakes, and take into account findings of others, or at least be aware that not everything is (and can be) considered in an experiment. (For example I’ve concluded that investigating water by itself in a cuvette, could be totally unrelated to what that water can do for a human or plant, this water separated from the living system that it’s meant to have an effect on, is in the cuvette connected to everything (the rhythms, the tides, the planets, the EM fields, the people in the room, and of course temperature, humidity, and more), it is there in its full potential, ready to act, touch and inform with everything in unique ways. Whatever you probe the water with provides a different view and reaction.)So far we’ve taken the following steps to move towards a World Water Lab (many of these steps were taken also with more (sub)projects in mind to enable collaboration for all kinds of projects in the World Water Community): To start this we began by setting up a community space: the World Water Community platform. We created a Marketplace where people can share not only their products, but also their services, and equipment. The vision is that scientists (or anyone) can offer their measurement services to anybody who’s interested in measuring their water product. Or scientists can share/rent/loan equipment and lab space to other scientists who need to do an experiment for a while (it often happens that not all lab equipment is continuously in use). We also set up a directory for Water Labs, listing what measurements they do, what equipment they have, if they offer services or not, and if they share their work publicly or that it’s private and under contracts. Labs around the world can add themselves to the listing. Next steps are to finetune the database by adding more specific fields that can be searched on, we would like to develop this together with the science community (we need more time and resources to increase engagement as well, etc.). And we’ve set up a crowdfunding platform for water related projects, also for research/scientific projects that are of interest to more scientists and different entrepreneurs, with the aim to gather funding from all interested parties. This would create the opportunity for focused projects, which would combine funds, time and resources instead of scattering them by everyone trying to achieve the same thing. It also provides the opportunity to crowdsource scientists from the scientific community, enabling different scientists to add their specific input to the project. Scientists and their expertise being able to move freely between projects. Our aim is to create total transparency (who funds what, who receives what, how much time is spent by whom and what is the output). Next steps are to build/grow our team to support this further. We already have an extensive project management system that could be used to manage this all. And in our community platform, we’ve created public, private (and hidden if necessary) space for discussions on results and findings of the research projects. These can be shared either in forums or specific groups, and if these are public they provide the opportunity for people who were not initially involved to input their bright ideas (perhaps even coming from a totally different angle, and different sources of wisdom, insights and knowledge, which would be great). Then we also have the learning management system (for courses to be added by members) and the water resource library or knowledge base (WaterWikis) that we envision to grow to be a common place for sharing and educating about water. And we have the events calendar, for sharing and organizing events, with tools to support online and offline conferences. All to support the interaction between the community, scientific or any other subject.
